Frequently asked questions
Can I take the GearX air pump on a plane?
Yes. All GearX portable pumps run on a 4440mWh (≈4.4Wh) lithium battery, which is well under the 100Wh limit that the FAA, IATA, and pretty much every airline allows in carry-on. Just remember: lithium batteries must travel in your cabin bag, never in checked luggage. So pack the pump with you, not under the plane.
How much space does the TravelPack™ Vacuum Bag actually save?
Up to around 60 % on bulky items i.e. jackets, hoodies, denim, bedding. For frequent flyers, that keeps the weight well within limits and saves excess-baggage fees. Roll your clothes in, seal the double-zip, pull the air out with the pump, and what used to fill half your carry-on takes a quarter.
Do the air pump and the vacuum bag have to be used together?
No, each one works on its own, but they're built to pair. The TravelPack bag accepts any household vacuum cleaner at home or a GearX pump on the road, which is crucial since no hotel comes with a Hoover. The pump itself also handles inflatable pillows, mattresses, pool floats, and even quick BBQ charcoal ignition. It’s about whatever fits your trip.
How long does the air pump’s battery last, and how do I charge it abroad?
PocketAir runs up to 12 hours on light mode and handles multiple vacuum-bag or inflation cycles per charge. Charging is USB-C — meaning your phone charger, laptop port, power bank, or any hotel USB outlet anywhere in the world will top it up. No voltage adapters, no travel-plug needed.
